Description

The author developed and proposes the following method for producing beryllium oxide from beryl, which is a complex beryllium silicate and WezA12 aluminum (5Hg) b. Beryl is baked with potassium sulphate and coal at 950 °. The specter is treated with 70% sulfuric acid to remove the odor of hydrogen sulfide, excess sulfuric acid is distilled off as far as possible, and the dry residue is leached with hot water. The IB is transferred to the solution in the form of potassium, beryllium and aluminum sulfates, as well as small amounts of iron and manganese. and calcium, the oxides of which are present in the ore.

On the basis of partial equilibrium studies in the KbSOi-BeSO4 -АЫ (ЗО4,) 3 - HiSQ -HjO system, the author proposes the following method for processing an acidic solution of sulphates extracted from a cake.

BeSO4. 2Н2О.1) By evaporation of the solution to a specific gravity of about 1.2 and cooling it to room temperature, the bulk of aluminum in the form of alum is isolated. At the same time, a significant amount of potassium sulfate remains in the solution, which lowers the solubility of beryllium sulfate, forming with it the double salt K2SO4. BeSO4. 2H2O.

2) Potassium sulphate was isolated from the mother liquor in the form of alum by adding to the solution the calculated

20: 1.the amount of aluminum hydroxide that can be obtained by precipitation from alum, obtained by evaporation of the solutions after leaching the pitch. If free sulfuric acid appears in the solution after that, it is neutralized with beryllium hydroxide according to the indicator tropeolin 00. The resulting solution is evaporated to a specific gravity of about 1.33 (at 75 °), cooled to O and after 8-10 hours. filtered from crystallized alum. The specific gravity of the solution should be 1.29; while it contains 26.5% BeSO4 and 0.75% A12 (5O4) 3, i.e., the ratio of beryllium and aluminum in the solution is 20: 1.

3)При необходимости дальнейшую очистку от алюмини  и других примесей осуществл ют иутем перекристаллизации сернокислого берилли .3) If necessary, further purification from aluminum and other impurities is carried out and by recrystallization of beryllium sulphate.

Гидроокись, не подвергнутую прокаливанию, отмыть от сульфата не удаетс .4) If further refining of beryllium from aluminum is not required, beryllium is separated from the filtrate with caustic soda in the form of hydroxide, which is calcined at 600 without washing and then washed several times with hot water. Washing of sulphate is achieved in this case quickly. The hydroxide that has not been calcined cannot be cleaned from sulphate.
