Abstract

1536421 Pile fabrics IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 11 Dec 1975 [7 Jan 1975] 597/75 Heading D1K [Also in Division B5] A flexible laminate comprises a first outer layer 1 which is a continuous thomoplastic material, a first backing layer 3 for the first outer layer, a second outer layer 4 which is a tack-spun pile-surfaced product on a second backing layer 5, the first and second backing layers adhering together. The first outer layer 1 may be of a polymer or copolymer of ethylene, propylene, butadiene, vinyl chloride, vinyl acetate, vinylidene chloride, acrylonitrile or styrene, or a polyamide, polyester or polyurethane, preferably plasticised polyvinyl chloride, and may be embossed as at 2 to produce simulated leather or may be lacquered or metallised. The backing layers are preferably of paper, cardboard or woven or non-woven cloth, e.g. woven cotton fabric or non-woven viscose rayon, bonded together by means of an adhesive which may be a contact adhesive, synthetic rubber adhesive or plasticiser free polyvinyl acetate dispersion. The pile surfaced product 4 is preferably of pigmented low density polyethylene which may be embossed or provide a simulated suede leather finish. The pile surfaced product may be provided by pressing a film of low density polyethylene against a heated roll and drawing it away while cooling so thatfibrils are drawn from the surface of the film.

Description

(54) MULTILAYER ELASTIC MATERIAL

1one

The invention relates to the plastics industry,;. "In particular, to the development of a multi-layer elastic material with a felted surface.

A multilayer elastic material is known, including a polyolefin-based pile layer and a fibrous substrate (fabric). 1. This material is used in haberdashery manufacturing and everyday life and is practically unsuitable for footwear upper parts.

The purpose of the invention is to develop a material for the production of shoe and clothing parts.

This goal is achieved by the fact that the material additionally contains successively arranged fibrous layer (second substrate, for example, fabric, nonwoven material, paper, cardboard) and a layer of thermoplastic polymer with surface embossing.

Example. The laminate according to the invention is made by applying a first outer wool layer to its substrate and a second outer (thermoplastic polymer layer) layer to its substrate and joining both substrates, for example, with glue. The choice of glue depends on the substrates and glue application devices used. Contact adhesives, synthetic rubber adhesives and adhesives based on dispersions of synthetic resins (for example, polyvinyl acetate) without plasticizer are most acceptable. The fibrous substrate for the first outer layer is a woven, non-woven or knitted textile or crepe paper, and the substrate for the second outer layer is a fibrous material. Both substrates are bonded to each other with contact adhesive to form a laminate.

(2).The laminate according to the invention is used as shoe parts. At the same time, the material has an outer layer of elastic polyurethane or polyvinyl chloride and a pile layer made of polyethylene, a pile layer is obtained by detaching from the surface of the roll, to which the polyethylene adheres (2).
