Description
Характеристики чугуна, модифицированного известным и предлагаемыми сплавами, приведены в таблице.constituting an additional up to 100% portion in each alloy. Each alloy is carried out separately in an open induction furnace, in graphite crucibles. Alloys are cast into steel molds. The resulting ingots are crushed and screened to separate particles of 1-5 mm in size, which are used to modify the cast iron. The characteristics of cast iron modified by the known and proposed alloys are given in the table.
As can be seen from the table, indicators of mechanical properties (СТЕ and Apz) of cast iron modified by the proposed alloys significantly exceed the same values of cast iron modified by a known alloy, and the oxygen content in the nerve case is significantly (up to 3 times) less than in the latter.
The optimum zinc content in the alloy is in the range of 1-7 wt. % and with a further increase in its amount, the indicators of the mechanical properties of cast iron, as well as its oxygen content, change little. The higher mechanical properties of the cast iron modified by the alloys described make it possible to reduce the weight of the resulting castings, as well as to increase their service life. Silicon segregation is practically absent in the modifier due to mixing of the melt with zinc vapor.
