Methods are known for determining the saturation of metal surfaces with an abrasive, providing microscopic observations in the polarized light of the surface under investigation, while only particles with a size greater than 10-20 microns embedded into a small depth are subjected to control.
The proposed method differs from the known ones in that the test surface is burned in an arc or spark during continuous translational movement of the sample and according to the radiation spectrum of the surface layer is judged on the degree of its saturation with an abrasive. With the aim of increasing the accuracy and expressiveness of the determination, the control of the degree of saturation of the metal surface with an abrasive according to the proposed method is carried out as follows. A device for moving a test sample, which is the lower electrode of an electric arc, is mounted on the spectrograph guides. Including the mechanism for moving the sample, it burns its surface and, using a spectrograph, record the spectral lines characteristic of the elements contained
Then, the resulting spectrum is compared either with the spectrum of the same metal not affected by the abrasive, or for the purpose of quantitative determination with the spectrum of the reference sample, the amount of abrasive in which is known.
By implementing translational movement of the sample, it is possible to sum the radiation from small inclusions distributed over the metal surface.
Subject invention
A method for determining the degree of saturation of metal surfaces with an abrasive using an emission spectral analysis technique with a fake electrode, characterized in that, in order to increase the sensitivity of the analysis, the sample is brought into translational motion relative to the fake electrode, the radiation intensity of the elements distributed over the sample surface is its movement and by the total intensity of the radiation judge the desired value.
