Description
Allyl alcohol is obtained from waste from the distillation of methyl alcohol and by synthetic methods, primarily as a mixture with water. The removal of water from this mixture presents considerable difficulties and requires, in the case of using solid drying agents, their considerable consumption and, in addition, the regeneration of allyl alcohol from the resulting brines. There are indications in the literature on the method of drying allyl alcohol by distillation of aqueous allyl alcohol with the addition of carbon tetrachloride (Syntheses of organic preparations, Vol. 1, p. 15). According to this method, the product obtained by salting out the raw reaction with potash is subjected to distillation. The distilled allyl alcohol containing water is mixed with a quarter by volume of carbon tetrachloride. The mixture is slowly distilled, the resulting low boiling point fraction containing carbon tetrachloride, allyl alcohol, and water is dried, poured, and poured back into the flask. After performing this operation several times (until there is no water in the pursuit), the mixture is completely distilled, and the fractions are taken to 80 °, 80-90 °, 90-95, 5 ° and 95.5-97 °. The last fraction is absolute allyl alcohol.

The proposed method differs from the above in that the dewatering process is carried out with an automatic return of the distilled mixture of allyl alcohol and carbon tetrachloride back to distillation Kj6, without drying it with solid desiccants.
Distillation is carried out at a temperature of 65-66 ° according to the following scheme.
The amount of aqueous allyl alcohol and the amount of carbon tetrachloride equal to the water separator tank a are loaded into the device's cube (see drawing) and begin distillation by adjusting the process so that the thermometer at the top of the column shows a temperature of 65-66 °. At this temperature, the dissecting mixture of carbon tetrachloride, allyl alcohol and water is distilled into the water separator.
The bottom layer, consisting mainly of allyl alcohol and carbon tetrachloride, returns through the bypass tube b to the column, and the upper aqueous-alcohol layer containing 15-200 / 0 alcohol is discharged as it accumulates.
By adjusting the tap in the flow rate of the lower layer in the column, establish a uniform, constant flow of the hydroalcoholic layer. Dehydration is considered complete after termination
The carbon tetrachloride is then distilled off and anhydrous allyl alcohol (tap g) is then collected at a temperature of 96.3 °. In this way, an anhydrous preparation of at least 70 ° / o from dehydration of allyl alcohol (counting at 100 / o-ny) is obtained immediately. Alcohol from the aqueous layer with a strength of 15-20 / is easily utilized by distillation, collecting a fraction of up to 90 °, representing allyl alcohol and going to the next batch for dehydration. The distillate containing carbon tetrachloride is used at subsequent loads, and therefore its consumption for dewatering is reduced only to normal distillation losses.
The subject matter of the invention.
The method of dehydrating allyl alcohol by aestropic distillation with carbon tetrachloride, characterized in that the distillation is carried out at a temperature, continuously returning part of the shoulder strap back to the cube.
