Abstract

FIELD: chemistry, particularly, manufacture of compound fertilizers from apatite using nitrate-involving technology and in passing strontium salts freed of barium. SUBSTANCE: this process includes such steps as treating admixture of strontium and barium nitrates with nitric acid and separating desired product from barium-containing precipitate. Specifically, this process prescribes treating aqueous solution of nitrate admixture having strontium content of 9 to 12 % by nitric acid having concentration of 56 to 60 % to be taken in amount of 15 to 30 solution volumes at temperature of 20 to 50 C. For stepping up degree of refinement, this process demands 15 to 20 volumes of nitric acid per 100 volumes of solution and 25 to 30 volumes in order to minimize losses of strontium with barium-containing precipitate. In order to further reduce losses of strontium, barium-containing precipitate may be additionally treated by for example diluted nitric acid and then separating strontium nitrate. In this case nitric acid should have concentration of 16 to 20 % and be taken in amount of 3.8 to 5.0 parts by mass per 1 part by mass of barium-containing precipitate.
