Abstract
1 з.п. The invention relates to petrochemistry, in particular, to the production of high-boiling mono- and dibenzyl derivatives of toluene, which can be used as high-boiling heat carriers. The goal is to increase the yield of target products. The process is carried out by the condensation of benzyl halide with toluene at 50-250 ° C in the presence of ferric chloride. In order to increase the yield of dibenzyltoluenes, monobenzyltoluene is preferably added to the starting toluene. The resulting reaction mixture is treated at 50-100 ° C with an aqueous solution of hydroxyethylidene diphosphonic acid, taken in a molar ratio with iron (0.25-1): 1, and then fractionated to isolate the desired products. These conditions allow an increase in the yield of the target mono- and dibenzyltoluenes by decreasing the amount of by-products to 5%. 1 hp f-ly, 1 tab.

To complete the reaction, increase the temperature in the reactor before and maintain the mixture for 2 hours. Determine its composition, May. %: toluene 34.85; monobenzyl toluene 35.7; dibenzyltoluene $ 24.7 deep condensation products (tri- and polybenzyltoluenes) 4.75. Taking 400 g of the mixture from the reactor, it is subjected to fractionation, the results of which are presented in the table under item 7a, and to the mixture remaining in the reactor in an amount of 500 g, 0.045 g of hydroxyethylidene diphosphonic acid is dispensed in the form of a 1.0 wt.% Aqueous solution. The treatment is carried out at 80 for 0.5 hours. After settling and separating the aqueous layer, the clarified organic layer is subjected to fractionation, the results of which are given in the table under paragraph 76.
The choice of the upper temperature limit of treatment is due to the fact that the dosage of an aqueous solution of HEDPA at a temperature above causes it to boil at the moment of dosing, which can lead to the release of the reaction mass, lowering the temperature below 50 ° C reduces the formation of a complex with iron and reduces the processing efficiency which is confirmed by the results of Example 6 when, at the maximum acid dosage, an increased amount of polybenzyltoluenes is formed. The optimum treatment temperature is 95 - when the optimal rate of the inactive complex formation process is reached.
Thus, a comparison of the results of examples 1-7, shown in the table, shows that the yield of polybenzyltoluenes and other products due to the treatment with HEDPA decreases, which leads to an increase in the yield of the target benzyltoluenes.
