Abstract

A device for driving circular knitting machines for manufacturing hosiery and similar goods, is provided with a mechanism for the reverse drive of the needle cylinder, said device comprising a changing clutch arranged between wheels (4, 11) for rotary and oscillatory motion and adapted selectively to couple one or other wheel to drive a shaft 1. The device is designed for the purpose of restricting noisiness and backlash in the driving mechanism, this being performed in such manner that both the wheel (4) for rotary motion and the wheel (11) for oscillatory motion are coupled with the appurtenant wheels (5, 5', 13) of the driving device by means of toothed belts (6, 12). The wheel 11 is driven in oscillation by a linkage including a pin 13' on wheel 11 engaging displaceably in a link 10 mounted on the rotary wheels 5, 5'. <IMAGE>
