(57) : A mandibular repositioning device (MRD) including a locating mechanism for effecting antero-posterior (AP) cor - IN rection of the mandibular arch relative to the maxillary arch. The locating mechanism includes a locating formation extending from C one of an upper dental plate and a lower dental plate, and a complementary receiving formation carried by the other of the upper N dental plate and the lower dental plate. The receiving formation receives the locating formation for locating the plates relative to O each other in a desired AP position of the mandibular arch relative to the maxillary arch. The MRD also includes a positioning ele - ment received at each molar region of at least one of the plates to alter the bite surface, thereby effecting a natural relative movement of the dental arches. The locating mechanism is positioned to lie anterior to a user's masseter muscle complex.
