Abstract
The heat source for heating the gas being measured includes a light source (8) located outside the measuring channel (2), an optical window (10) in the channel and a plate (6) inside the channel, which can be heated by light shone through the window. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - A flow meter comprises a measuring channel for a medium to flow along during measurement, a heat source for heating at least some of the medium, a heat detector (16, 20-24, 28, 30) for measuring the temperature in the channel, and a processor (14) for determining flow rate, connected to the heat source and heat detector. The heat source includes a light source located outside the channel, an optical window in the channel and a plate inside the channel, which can be heated by light shone through the window.
