Abstract

The brake unit 1 has a housing 3 fixed to the bogie, suspension brackets 9 which can be moved transversely in relation to the direction of brake actuation and a brake block holder 2 suspended at the lower end of the brackets, wherein the housing 3 and the other bracket ends are connected together by way of at least one leaf spring element 5, 6, which has different moments of resistance in its two directions of resilience in the plane perpendicular to its length. Two such spring elements 5 are provided substantially parallel to or up to 30‹ to the direction of the braking force F B . housing 3. This allows sideways movement of the brake block while presenting a strong resistance in the circumferential direction. A stop is provided on the wheel flange side of the spring element(s) to limit this movement.
