Abstract

The sensor is formed as a self-supporting composite product comprising one or more parallel electrical conductors which are wound in cylindrical coil form together with glass fibre wires, and where the unit of conductors and glass fibre wires during the winding process is impregnated with a polymer material. The polymer material is made to harden so that the induction coil (11) forms a solid strong ring consisting of conductors-glass fibre reinforcement - polymer material. The ring-shaped induction coil is of bipolar character and has an axial length which is considerably less than its cross-sectional dia., e.g. only 5-10% of the cross-sectional dia.. The induction coil is encapsulated in a further layer (9,10) of elastomer material, so that the coil is completely watertight.
