Abstract

The microprocessor control unit is connected by signal lines to devices controlling the fuel system, retarder and antilock/antislip braking system. It responds to a braking program switch near the driver's left foot, a clutch-pedal switch and sources connected to the economy/hillclimb mode selector, retarder coolant thermometer, gearbox output shaft tachometer, transmission acknowledgement switches etc. With the switch held closed, down- and up-change points are raised above the prim. predetermined engine speeds. When it is released the down-change points fall until both gps. of points are reset by further operation of the accelerator.
