Abstract

The large plank unit is manufactured by placing a sheet metal casing comprising two sides (2,3) with tonged and grooved ends (4,5) in a supporting mould, and filling with a suitable liquid plastics polyurethane foam. The foam also has the ability to adhere to the inner surfaces of the casing when solidying. - Various forms of keying joint formation can be used to present a flush or V-joint, or to accept a metal or plastic cover strip. A log wall dovetail corner joint is made by cutting appropriate recesses near the ends of the planks.
