Abstract

961,336. Laminates. MONSANTO CHEMICALS Ltd. July 31, 1962 [Sept. 7, 1961], No. 32157/61. Heading B5N. Asbestos-cement is laminated to a foamed synthetic resin by moulding the asbestos-cement before it has hardened to the foamed synthetic resin. The foamed synthetic resin may be a foamed polystyrene, polyethylene, polyvinyl chloride or polyurethane, and preferably has a cut surface presented to the asbestos-cement. The asbestos-cement may be applied to one or both surfaces of the foamed synthetic resin e.g. by pressing and when only one side of the foamed synthetic resin is bonded to the asbestoscement the other side may be bonded to concrete, masonry, wood, plasterboard or a plastic sheet or film.
