Abstract

The invention relates to a process and apparatus for drying a material web, especially a paper or cardboard web. The material web runs alternately, together with a supporting band, over heatable drying cylinders, on which contact drying takes place, and over guide rollers which are touched by the supporting band. Downstream of each contact zone, the material web is guided along a re-evaporation space which is relatively wide in the web running direction. This is followed by a hot-air supply zone, in which hot air flows in a turbulent state along the paper web opposite to the web running direction and is thereafter received by a waste-air chamber.
