Abstract

Apparatus for introducing a treatment gas into the melt of a metallurgical melting vessel, includes a fire-proof, ceramic flushing block (10) and a gas distributing chamber (16) arranged at the lower end thereof with a facility for connecting a gas feed line (50), the gas distributing chamber (16) having an opening (24), from which a tubular passage (26) extends upwardly through the flushing block (10) up to the upper end (54) thereof, facing the molten metal. A further opening (34) is provided in the gas distributing chamber (16) via which an alloy or filler wire (52) or a tube may be introduced into the gas distributing (16) chamber and the passage (26). Gas supply channels (12) extend through the flushing block (10) and are substantially uniformly distributed about the passage (26). <IMAGE>
