Abstract

In known arrangements the fact that the compressed air motors have a poor starting behaviour and a low air flow rate has a particularly disadvantageous effect. The new control arrangement is intended to be simple and capable of adaptation to different compressed air machine tools, to permit a maximum air flow rate, to significantly improve the starting behaviour, to reduce the air consumption without limiting the power and to permit reliable adjustment of the idling speed. A torsion compression spring (8) is inserted into the power transmission line between rotor (1) and output shaft (2) of a compressed air motor so that when rotated against the spring force the openings (9, 10) arranged in the two governor plates (6, 7) are made to more or less coincide. The idling speed is set with the annular gap (11) between the stator cover (3) and the governor plate (6) connected to the rotor (1), whilst the adjustable annular gap (12) between the said governor plate (6) and the governor plate (7) connected to the output shaft (2) is automatically set by the action of the feed air pressure. The arrangement is used to control the air supply of compressed air motors in rotary compressed air machine tools, especially grinding machines. <IMAGE>
