Abstract

The invention relates to a method and an arrangement relating to extensible stretcher sleds (3) for ambulance vehicles (1). The sled (3) can be moved manually between an inner (Fig. 1) and an outer (Fig. 2) end position in which the sled (3) projects beyond the rear end of the vehicle (1). Prior to collecting a patient, the sled (3) is moved to a position in the vicinity of its inner locked position and the rear door (2) of the vehicle (1) is moved to a near closed position or to a closed position. When returning with the patient, an operating device (13) is activated. This initiates automatic opening of the rear door (2) and automatic movement of the sled (3) to its outer end position/locked position. The arrangement comprises a gear rack (10) mounted on the sled (3), and electric motor (12) and a pinion wheel (11) carried by the motor such as to enable automatic opening of the rear door (2) and automatic movement of the sled (3) to its outer position.
