Abstract

A recovery vehicle comprises a chassis (6) upon which a support assembly (8) is mounted, and the support assembly (8) comprising a support frame (10) and a support platform (12) mounted on the frame (10) for sliding movement in a longitudinal direction. Hydraulic means (16) is provided on the chassis to move the support frame about an axis (18), conveniently located at the rear end of the chassis (6). In use the support platform (12) may be moved longitudinally relative to the support frame (12), and arcuately about the mounting axis (18) with the support frame (10). The platform (10) comprises a main body (20), and a rear end portion (22) pivotally mounted thereon by a pivot (48), so that when the platform is lowered in an inclined position onto the ground, the rear end portion provides a shallow incline leading to the steeper incline of the main body, so that a vehicle having a low front (such as a spoiler) may be driven onto the platform with reduced risk of damage.
