Abstract

The sub-calibre spin-stabilised multi-purpose missile for automatic firearms has a shrapnel-forming body of brittle material, and is of truncated-cone shape at the forward end with an annular end face. The nose cone shape and material and the method of joining it to the body are such that, even on striking a thin-skinned target at a small angle, the impact energy sufficient to burst the body is transmitted to it virtually unreduced. It can be of heat-treatable steel.
