Abstract

The present invention relates to a heating furnace. At least two separate combustion chambers (12, 13), having a connected water jacket (14), are arranged one above the other inside the housing (11) of the heating furnace (10). In the lower combustion chamber (12) the burner (15) is arranged below the transfer region (17) and in the upper combustion chamber (13) the burner (16) is arranged above the transfer region (18); the lower combustion chamber (12) is arranged such that it operates as a parallel-current furnace and the upper combustion chamber (13) is arranged such that it operates as a reverse-current furnace. The capacity of the water jacket (14) of the lower combustion chamber (12) is considerably lower than the capacity of the water jacket (14) of the upper combustion chamber (13). The combustion chambers (12, 13) have a common waste-gas discharge pipe (27) which is divided by a separating wall (28). The separating wall (28) is a water jacket or a single guide plate. <IMAGE>
