Abstract

The boiler has a water jacket (11) formed between two vertical cylinders (11A, 11B). The outer cylinder is surrounded by insulation (15) held in a rectangular casing (10). A tube (23) for a gas or oil burner enters the inner cylinder at high level. The combustion chamber is formed within the inner cylinder and has a refractory lining (21) over the upper part of its height. Two channels (30, 31) are formed on the inside of the inner cylinder. They terminate near the bottom of the combustion chamber and lead vertically upwards into a smoke box at the top of the boiler. This increases the output from a given size boiler.
