Abstract

Device for holding tube and bar shaped objects in a desired position, including a gripping device (1) pivotally journalled in an attachement (5) around its longitudinal axis (54) and a power device (2) for adjustment of the gripping device between releasing position and holding position. The gripping device (1) exhibits a fixed gripping part (25, 26) and a moveable gripping part (35), which is adjustable by means of an operating rod (44), displaceable by the power device (2), between releasing position and holding position. The moveable gripping part includes a pivot arm unit (6, 37) which is pivotally journalled around a shaft (38) in the fixed gripping part. This part exhibits a clamping jaw (30), which forms support means on which the object (3, 4) can rest also in the releasing position of the device. The moveable gripping part includes a clamping jaw (39) pivotally journalled relative to the pivot arm unit (36, 37). Each one of the two clamping jaws exhibits at least two relative to each other angularly positioned clamping surfaces (33, 34, 40, 41) which gives each clamping jaw a concave shape.
