Abstract

The reflector for an IR heating appliance includes a thermally insulating layer of material (12) lining the base of a tray within which the IR source (9) is mounted. The IR source has a small reflector which may be inside or outside the source, preventing any radiation passing directly from the source to the heater surface (13). All radiation is reflected by a contoured reflector (10) lying on the insulating layer. The reflector has a number of segments arranged to ensure a uniform illumination of the surface above. In the centre of the reflector there is a projecting point (11) which redistributes radiation which would otherwise be reflected back up in the central region of the surface (13).
