Abstract
This invention relates to a new type of armour piercing projectile which has a warhead which functions according to the hollow charge principle. According to the invention the warhead is composed of at least two separate hollow charges (4 and 5) located one behind the other and non-permanently joined to each other, and each having its own igniter device (16) and (22). The warhead according to the invention also includes a separation charge (14) with its own igniter device (13) for the purpose of separating the hollow charges without altering the course towards the target of either of the charges while the said charges are in trajectory. The hollow charges create an effect in the target at a certain interval in time after each other, and thereby enhance the penetration of the projectile into thick conventional armour, or active, dynamic and composite armour. <IMAGE>
