Abstract

The riding stirrup comprises a foot plate, two arms (2) on either side of the foot plate and joined above it, and a fixture (3) for a saddle leather (4). The saddle leather fixture comprises a safety device by which the foot plate and arms are separated from the saddle leather when the foot plate is pushed outwards from the extension line of the stretched leather (4), so that a bending torque is exerted on the fixture. A heel-shaped component is firmly attached to the stirrup arms and a clasp with fins supports against the heel and attached to the saddle leather. The clasp is rotatable in a plane at right-angles to that through the heels, and this around its lower part.
