Abstract
The invention relates to a method of and apparatus for separating the specifically heavier component from a flow of a medium, charged with suspended particles, by means of centrifugal force, in which the flow is first of all deflected and then in direct contact with regard to the inner curvature region an eddy separation is effected with an eddy (17), rotating in an eddy chamber, and central sucking off (8) of the specifically lighter component, for which purpose the flow is introduced, in a tangential flow (12) extending over the entire width of the chamber, into the eddy chamber, and cleaned medium, rid of the separated particles, leaves the eddy chamber through two immersion tubes (8) which extend in mirror-image manner in the centre of the eddy chamber. The invention relates to a method and apparatus, in which respect the separated particles pass without assistance by a flow directly from the eddy chamber into a bunker (7). The particles to be separated are carried out by the effect of the secondary flow with an axial direction component (18) through openings (14), arranged in the axial boundary walls (15), without a sucking- off acting from the outside. The direct separator can be used in a dust separating system having multiple eddy chambers. <IMAGE>
