Abstract

The invention relates to a device for the removal of surface liquid, especially in conjunction with the periodic cleaning of biological and/or chemical waste water treatment plants. The device comprises an outlet pipe 7, some overflow channels 6 in it, a float 8 and an air space 3, which extends below the overflow channels. The device can move in the vertical direction and is arranged to work in such a way that the overflow channels 6 are raised above the surface of the liquid under the influence of a force that comes into operation when the air space 3 of the device is filled with compressed air. The liquid cannot therefore flow into the outlet pipe through the channels. When the air is removed from the air space 3, the device falls to the level of the float, and the overflow channels drop below the level of the liquid. The surface water can now flow into the outlet pipe 7 through the overflow channels 6. <IMAGE>
