Abstract
A cable assembly for use in undercarpet wiring systems has conductors 16, 18, 20 encased in electrical insulation 22, a plastics layer 15 and an electrically conductive shield 14 electrically connected 24 at intervals to ground conductor 18 whereby the electrical continuity of the shield 14 is assured at cable joints (Figs. 2 and 3 not shown) by interconnections of the ground conductor 18 even though the shields may be physically separate. Methods of folding the cable so that the shield 14 remains uppermost and the relative positions of the conductors are maintained, are disclosed (Figs. 4 and 5 not shown). The insulating casing may be provided with soft edges (282 Fig. also Figs. 8 to 13 all not shown) to prevent injury when handling the cable. The edges of the shield 14 may be bent over to prevent injury or cutting by the edges (Fig. 7 not shown). <IMAGE>
