Abstract
The driving pulley 4 has an adjustable half 10 actuated hydraulically or mechanically. The driven pulley 8 has a self-adjusting half 18 biased by a spring 22. The shafts 14 and 20 are a fixed distance apart. In order to adjust belt tension as the belt 6 stretches, an adjustable stop screw 24 sets the minimum separation of the halves of the driving pulley 4. A bore 34 through the screw enables distance Y (distance y plus the screw length) to be measured whereby y can be set in dependence upon the minimum gap A between the halves of the driven pulley 8. <IMAGE>
