Abstract

Electrical apparatus, for example thermal overload relay, thermostat or the like, consisting of at least one contact 1, 3 which is subject to the effect of a snap spring device 20, 21, 24. A trigger mechanism with at least one thermal activation means 10, for example a bimetal element, brings about automatic activation of the apparatus in the event of, for example, excess current by pressure on an operating point 12 of the snap spring device. This spring device is so arranged that when the operating point is depressed it provides reducing counter force. The trigger mechanism contains at least one sprung means 30 and has lower spring constant at the operating point 12 than the snap spring device. When the apparatus is activated, the operating point lies stable in the initial position until the trigger force is achieved, whereupon it is moved instantaneously the whole activation distance before the contact 1, 3 breaks. By this means, a constant contact force is obtained in spite of a very slow operating movement of the activation means 10. <IMAGE>
