Abstract

An annular measurement spring (2) is designed as a very short cylinder. Arranged in each case in the measuring direction on the inner surface (4) of the cylinder are two strain gauges (8), and two other strain gauges (10) are arranged perpendicular thereto. Mounted opposite in the measuring direction are two webs (12) which have a knife-like taper (14) at the point of attachment to the measurement spring (2). Attachment eyes (16) are arranged at the end of the webs (12). Given a tensile force acting on the measurement spring (2), some of the strain gauges (8) measure a tensile stress, and the other strain gauges (10) measure a compressive stress. This symmetrical arrangement of the strain gauges (8, 10) permits a complete temperature compensation, and thus increases the measurement accuracy. <IMAGE>
