Abstract

The valve is composed of two body halves 2, 3 with a sealing ring 6 inserted in each body half on each side of a transverse plane 8 and a gate plate 23 which can be moved along the transverse plane towards and away from a closed position. The body, which has no stuffing box, is open to the environment via slits 14, 15 which form a guideway for the gate plate and allow it to be inserted and withdrawn from the body from two opposite sides when the valve is to be closed or opened. In the closed position the sealing rings are separated by the gate plate and seal against it. In the open position and during adjustment the sealing rings sealingly engage each other so that leakage through the slit is prevented. <IMAGE>
