Abstract
Novel halogen-substituted anilides of the formula III <IMAGE> and salts thereof, are prepared by acylating a corresponding aniline of the formula II <IMAGE> In the anilides of the formula III, A denotes a straight chain consisting of 2-5 CH2 groups or a group of the formula <IMAGE> X is bromine or chlorine, and R denotes ethyl, vinyl or cyclopropyl. The starting materials of the formula II in which A possesses another meaning than a chain consisting of 4 or 5 CH2 groups are prepared by an appropriate N-alkylation of a dihaloaniline, and those starting materials of the formula II in which A represents a chain consisting of 4 or 5 CH2 groups are produced by reducing an appropriate acid dimethylamide. The compounds of the formula III and their salts may be employed as active compounds in agents possessing antidepressant activity.
