Abstract

A method and a relevant set of reagents for the determination of an acid phosphatase of human origin, especially prostate phosphatase, in a body fluid, are described. The method comprises subjecting a substrate solution to the enzymatic action of the body fluid to be investigated at an incubation temperature between 20 DEG C and 45 DEG C, and measuring the substrate conversion. Used in this are a phosphomonoester as substrate, a buffer substance to adjust to a pH between 4.5 and 6.5, and an activator containing at least one straight-chain alcohol with 4-6 C atoms. The substrate solution contains 50 mu mol/l to 50 mmol/l phosphomonoester, 50-300 mmol/l buffer substance and 10-300 mmol/l activator.
