Abstract

Improved method for enzymatic determination of the ethanol content of an ethanol-containing material, the improvements of which include mixing a sample of the ethanol-containing material with an aqueous solution of alcohol-dehydrogenase containing 2-p-iodophenyl-3-p- nitrophenyl-5-phenyltetrazolium in an amount that in the reaction system is at least sufficient to respond quantitatively to the ethanol content in the sample, regarding conversion to formazan, nicotinamide-adenine-dinucleotide, diaphrase, and a buffer that it is substantially inert in said solution and that it maintains the pH of the solution in a value between approximately 7.5 and approximately 9.5 under test conditions (Machine-translation by Google Translate, not legally binding)
