Abstract
To produce free-flowing detergent powders by the hot spray drying process, a partially hydrated sodium tripolyphosphate is used which has a content of 0.3 to 2.0% by weight of water of crystallisation and a phase I content of 30 to 60% and which has been obtained by a) drying and calcining sodium phosphate solutions which have been prepared from mixtures of furnace-process phosphoric acid and wet-process phosphoric acid in the ratio by weight of </=4:1 or only wet-process phosphoric acid and which have an Na2O:P2O5 molar ratio of 1.676 to 1.700, where an initial molar ratio of 1.676 is increased by about 0.003 for each 10% by weight of wet-process phosphoric acid in the mixture of phosphoric acids, and b) treating the calcined product with water or steam.
