Abstract

1534304 Controlling reciprocating piston engines FESTO-MASCHINENFABRIK GOTTLIEB STOLL 22 Jan 1976 [31 Jan 1975] 02429/76 Heading F1M In a reciprocating piston engine the working medium is admitted in response to piston actuated limit switches mounted, mutually circumferentially spaced on an elongate mounting element extending along the cylinder. The mounting element 26 may have webs 28, 29 having enlarged portions 31 receiving a clamp portion 32 of the limit switch to allow adjustment of each switch 18, 19 relative to the cylinder 12, or alternatively, locating grooves to mount the switches. The switches are magnetically activated, preferably by a magnet 21 carried by the piston 13, the switches controlling admission/exhaust valves via electric or hydraulic circuits. A flexible ferromagnetic switch blade co-operates with the magnet in a non-contact mode. The element 26 and the cylinder 12 are constructed of non magnetic material.
