1504661 Desulphurizing steel melts INTECO INTERNATIONALE TECHNISCHE BERATUNG GmbH 6 Jan 1976 [14 Jan 1975 10 Feb 1975] 00267/76 Headings C7D and C7M Desulphurizing a liquid steel melt having a temperature greater than 1500‹C and an oxygen activity of less than 0.01% by injecting a slag of composition 10 to 60% CaO, 10 to 70% Ca F 2 , 0 to 40% Al 2 O 3 , a maximum of 20% SiO 2 and a total of 0 to 5% oxides of Fe, Mn and/or Cr, having a melting point at least 150‹C lower than that of the steel melt using a carrier gas which is non- oxidizing under the conditions of desulphurization e.g. Ar, N 2 , natural gas.
