Abstract

1522659 Unsaturated polyester resins DR BECK & CO AG 19 Dec 1975 [21 Dec 1974] 52018/75 Headings C3P and C3R A hardenable heat resistant resin composition comprises an ethylenically unsaturated monomer in which is dissolved an unsaturated polyester prepared from a mixture of an ethylenically unsaturated dicarboxylic acid or anhydride thereof, a monobasic acid or monhydric alcohol containing a tetrahydrophthalic, endomethylene- or alkyl tetrahydrophthalic imide ring and at least one tribasic carboxylic acid and/or trihydric alcohol containing an isocyanurate ring. In the examples tetrahydrophthalic anhydride is reacted with monoethanolamine to form 2- hydroxyethyl tetrahydrophthalic imide which is reacted with maleic anhydride, neopentyl glycol a dimeric fatty acid and tri(hydroxyethyl or 2-carboxyethyl)isocyanurate and combined with styrene, hydroquinone and methylethylketone peroxide or a mixture of cobalt octoate and t-butyl perbenzoate.
