Abstract
1336064 Securing fixing elements EXCHEM HOLDINGS Ltd 3 March 1972 [3 March 1971] 5963/71 Heading C3P [Also in Division F2] Unsaturated polyester resins for securing a stud or screw socket in an oversized bore are mixed in the bore with a catalyst. In the following examples, proportions are given as parts by weight. (1) 25 parts polyester resin (70% by weight solution in styrene monomer), 0À3 parts dimethylaniline, 75 parts calcite, 0À5 parts pyrogenic silica. The catalyst is 50 parts benzoyl peroxide (as a 70% by weight paste in dimethylphthalate), 10 parts dibutylphthalate, 10 parts pyrogenic silica, 30 parts calcite. The polyester resin is formed by esterifying 2À2 moles propylene glycol with 1 mole phthalic anhydride and 1 mole maleic anhydride. After esterification to an acid number of 35 mg. KOH per gram, the mixture is cooled and thinned with styrene monomer containing 0À03% by weight of hydroquinone stabilizer. (2) A resin as in Example 1 is used with a catalyst comprising 15 parts benzoyl peroxide, 8 parts of a linear chlorinated hydrocarbon containing 65% by weight of chlorine, and 10 parts calcite. (3) A catalyst/resin composition comprises silica sand filler and gelatine capsules, some containing peroxide paste of 45% by weight of benzoyl peroxide in dimethylphthalate, and some containing the Example 1 polyester resin with 0À1% by weight of dimethylaniline. (4) A resin composition comprising 25 parts polyester resin as in Example 1, 2 parts cobalt naphthenate (6% Co), 0À5 parts pyrogenic silica, and 70 parts calcite is used with a catalyst of 50% methyl ethyl ketone peroxide solution. (5) A resin composition as in Example 4 is used with a catalyst of 50% by weight paste of cyclohexanone peroxide in dibutylphthalate. Other forms of polyester resin, catalyst, and filler are listed in the Specification.
