1472696 Jack socket MAGNETIC CONTROLS CO 1 Oct 1975 [13 Feb 1975] 40104/75 Heading H2E A moulded jack socket for direct connection to a p.c.b. (Fig. 10, not shown) comprises an insulating housing 10 (Figs. 1 and 2) having two end walls 12, 14 joined together by side walls 16 and 18 and an entrance hole 28 for accepting a plug (not shown), spring metals contacts 34, 52, 85, 70, 84 (Figs. 5, 6, 7, 8, 9) mounted in housing 10 by means of a plurality of slots formed in the housing 10 and said contacts having lugs 27R, 27RN, 27TN, 27S, 27T respectively which extend through holes 36, 60, 98, 90, 90 respectively to make contact with the p.c.b. (26). Clearance windows 106, 108 are provided to allow expansion of springs 34, 84 when the plug is inserted. Slots (22), (23), (24) (Figs. 3, 4, not shown) are provided on the housing 10 to facilitate mounting of the socket to the panel (25); three small risers (112) (Figs. 3, 4, not shown) are used to space the housing from the p.c.b. Each spring has barbs, e.g. 67 (Fig. 6) bent slightly inward and having a steep angle 63 to ensure an initial sliding contact with the entrance ends of the respective slots. When the plus is inserted humps 47, 92 of springs 34, 84 push the springs back, so that contacts 49, 94 break circuit with springs 52, 86 respectively.
