1471739 Transformers and inductors TRANSFORMATOREN UNION AG 3 June 1974 [4 June 1973] 24395/74 Heading HIT Voltage surges in transformer or inductor windings 27-30 are controlled by a capacitor bank comprising a plurality of disc coils A-D, each disc coil comprising spiral wound conductors 40, 41 with their inner ends open circuit, the disc coils being magnetically uncoupled with the windings, each winding having a capacitor connected in parallel and all the capacitors being connected in series. A bank of capacitors (54, Fig. 3, not shown) may be arranged in the space between two parallel connected transformer windings each comprising four pancake coils (57-60 and 61- 64 respectively) and the conductor pairs (69, 70 and 71, 72) forming capacitors each of which is associated with a pancake coil at the same potential are interwound into one disc coil (65).
