Abstract

1440903 Slip casting IFO AB 13 Dec 1974 [17 Dec 1973] 54025/74 Heading B5A A two part mould 13 is fed with slip under pressure via a line 14, and includes a device 16 for further pressurizing the slip, such device comprising an inner flexible cylinder 40 communicating with the pressure line and coaxially located in a rigid outer cylinder, the space between the cylinders being supplied with pressure air via a line 22 and valve 21. A non- return valve 17 prevents return of slip when the inner cylinder is subjected to air pressure. The upper mould part may be raised from the lower part by an hydraulic cylinder 12, and each part has passages 26, 27 connectable via valves 28, 29 with pressure air whereby the casting can be separated from the mould walls. Surplus slip is drained off by closing a valve 15, opening a valve 20 and admitting pressure air to the casting cavity through a valve 25 and a non-return valve 23.
