Abstract
988,748. Moulding-machines. F. HANSBURG. March 12, 1963 [March 23, 1962], No. 9796/63. Heading B3F. A sand shooting head comprises a ramming plate and a ramming frame or false flask which latter is locked to the head and mounted on the flask during the blowing, and is unlocked so as to be movable relatively to the head during pressing of the sand against the ramming plate, and is characterized in that a compressed-airactuated sealing joint is arranged at the bearing surfaces of the ramming frame, which joint is placed under pressure during the blowing and is vented during the ramming. The blowhead 6 comprises an inner perforated lining 4 through which pressure air is supplied to the sand contained therein from an annular reservoir 12 through an inlet 31 controlled by a ring valve 18. The lower end of the head incorporates a ramming plate 55 and is embraced by a ramming frame 8 which may be locked to the head by hydraulic cylinders 15, Fig. 1. The bearing surface between the frame 8 and the head 6 is sealable by a compressed air joint 62 which is connected to the head venting valves 9, so that when the valves are closed the joint is pressurized, when they are open the joint is vented. The ramming frame has vents 70 in its sides which are covered by filter plates 73 and through which air in the flask is vented during filling. The filling of the head is controlled by a diaphragm valve 17, Fig. 2, which controls the opening and closing of a slider 28 mounted on rollers 40 and sealed off from below in its closure position by a compressed air joint 22. After blowing, during which the compressed air joint 62 is pressurized, the ramming frame is unlocked from the head 6, the venting valves 9 are opened to vent the head 6 and the joint 62, and the sand is rammed by upward movement of the table 14 together with the flask 71 and ramming frame 8.
