Abstract

A device for preparing asphalt (1), comprising a rotatable heating chamber (2) having an intake end (3) and a discharge end (4), a base material feeder (6) arranged at the intake end, and a burner (7) arranged at the intake end for heating the interior of the heating chamber, wherein the base material feeder comprises a first base material bin (11), a first base material transfer device (12), a pre-heating duct (13), a second base material transfer device (8), a gas conduit (19), and a gas flow driver (14). The preheating duct comprises a vertically extending portion (15). The first base material transfer device (12) is arranged to transfer base material from the first base material bin (11) into the vertically extending portion (15) of the preheating duct (13) at a first position above its bottom end (16), the base material thereby moving down through the vertically extending portion (15) to the second base material transfer device (8), which is arranged to transfer the base material into the rotatable heating chamber (2). The gas conduit (19) is connected to the intake end (3) of the rotatable heating chamber (2), and to the vertically extending portion (15) at its bottom end (16). The gas flow driver (14) is arranged to drive a flow of gases from the rotatable heating chamber (2) through the gas conduit (19) and the pre-heating duct (13) passed said first position.
