Abstract

The present invention relates to a vacuum suction apparatus for fistulas and the like and consists of a flat-bottomed open box 2 which is made of plastic which is expediently translucent, with the box having a connecting mouthpiece 3 for a vacuum hose whose other end is connected to a vacuum pump. The aperture of the box is provided with an outwardly directed flange 5 which passes around the circumference, and the material in the region in the vicinity of the aperture consists of a soft and elastically flexible material 1, for example soft silicone rubber. The aperture is covered by a rather wide- spaced grating 4 which is made of a material which is somewhat harder than the soft elastic material, and the bottom section of the box is also made from a relatively solid material. When the vacuum suction apparatus is used, the grating-cover aperture of the box is placed over a hole in a sterile dressing, which is self-adhesive and which has been applied over the sutured healing area such that the site which is to be treated, and from where liquid is oozing, is exposed in the hole in the sterile dressing. <IMAGE>
