Abstract
1345368 Heat exchanger STEIN INDUSTRIE 19 April 1971 [6 March 1970] 24318/71 Heading F4A A heat exchanger comprises a plurality of tubes 2 for a first fluid connected between two tube plates 4, 5 in a shell 1 for a second fluid, each tube having at one end a rectilinear portion followed by an expansion bend 18, the tubes being in two groups 2a, 2b the tubes in each group being arranged in parallel equi-spaced rows and parallel equi-spaced lines perpendicular to the rows, the two groups lying on respective sides of a line parallel to the said lines and the rows of one group being offset with respect to those of the other group so that the expansion bend of each tube extends in the plane of the row containing that tube and between adjacent rows of the other group. The first and second fluids are preferably water and liquid sodium, the latter entering or leaving through a pipe 7 located so that the sodium does not circulate around the bends. The upper parts of the tubes 2 are more closely spaced, are surrounded by a sleeve 14 and act as a superheater section.
