Abstract

1,240,597. Hair curlers. O. B. ELMER. 18 April, 1969 [19 April, 1968], No. 20048/69. Heading A4V. A hair curling device comprises an apertured body 1 and a heatable core 4 slidably mounted in a guide tube 5 so that it can move between a first position in which the core 4 is held completely within the body 1 (as shown in Fig. 1) and a second position wherein one end of the core 4 projects from one end of the body 1 so that it may be placed in contact wth a hot plate. The core 4 may be formed from solid meal or it may comprise a closed tube containing a liquid. The core is spaced from the body 1 by transverse walls 2 of thermally insulating material. A slot 6 formed in the guide tube 5 and a pin 7 screwed into the core and engaging the slot 6 limit the movement of the core between the first and second positions. The hair curling device has a spring loaded assembly 8 set within a bore in the core so that it engages the inner wall of the guide tube to prevent inadvertant movement of the core within the guide tube. The body of hair curling device may be provided with a plurality of teeth and a handle whereby it comprises a hair curling comb.
